Money, media, impact, and spheres of influence are the four parameters that Forbes used to rank the candidates in each category.
At the top of the list is Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. Leyen’s appointment as the first female leader in the position, which oversees laws impacting over 450 million Europeans, is noteworthy.
Politicians and policymakers Christine Lagarde, Kamala Harris, and Giorgia Meloni occupy the next three positions, respectively. Beyoncé, Oprah, and Taylor Swift—America’s favorite pop star—are included in Forbes’ list of the World’s Most Powerful Women 2023.
