Microsoft quietly launched a dedicated Copilot app for Android, and it’s now available on the Google Play Store. Users can access Microsoft’s AI-powered Copilot without the need for the Bing mobile app. It spotted the release nearly a week ago, but an iOS version is not yet available.
The Copilot app on Android closely resembles ChatGPT. It providing chatbot capabilities, image generation through DALL-E 3, and the ability to draft text for emails and documents. It also includes free access to OpenAI’s latest GPT-4 model, a feature that requires payment when using ChatGPT.
Microsoft rebranded Bing Chat to Copilot about a month ago, incorporating a ChatGPT-like interface into Bing search results. Although Bing Chat is still available, Microsoft dropped the branding and allowed Copilot to be a more standalone experience, with its own dedicated domain at copilot.microsoft.com, similar to ChatGPT.
Releasing a standalone experience for Microsoft Copilot App and rebranding Bing Chat Enterprise to Copilot suggests a logical expansion, especially with the anticipation of an iOS version on the horizon. Currently, there is no indication of an iOS version of Copilot. But users can access existing Copilot features by using the Bing app on an iPhone or iPad in the meantime.
