This enthusiastic individual averaged more than nine orders daily. Another resident of Mumbai earned a spot in the annual report for achieving a remarkable feat of placing 121 orders in a single day.
Zomato’s year-end report of India’s biggest foodie uncovered intriguing food-ordering trends across various cities. Bengaluru emerged as the champion for breakfast orders, while Delhi claimed the top spot for late-night orders. The city of Bengaluru also boasted the record for the largest single order on Zomato, a substantial Rs 46,273. Additionally, a generous customer from Bengaluru sent a total of 1,389 gift orders through Zomato, amounting to an impressive Rs 6.6 lakh.
Turning to the culinary preferences, biryani and pizza continued their reign as the preferred choices, with over 10.09 crore biryani orders and 7.45 crore pizza orders placed on Zomato. Noodle bowls secured the third position with a substantial 4.55 crore orders, equivalent to wrapping the circumference of the earth 22 times, as per Zomato’s vivid analogy.
Swiggy’s year-ender report echoed the biryani trend, confirming its position as the most-ordered dish for the eighth consecutive year. India witnessed a staggering rate of 2.5 biryanis ordered per second in 2023. A biryani enthusiast from Hyderabad made headlines by ordering an impressive 1,633 biryanis throughout the year, contributing significantly to the city’s status as the biryani capital on Swiggy, with every sixth order being for this beloved dish.
